On set for Scotia shoot last week with Storystream.
First time testing HDRX mode with a RED EPIC camera system and must say I was blown away. Couldn’t believe the creative control to make the highlights as full of texture and detail as I’d like or to let them blow out. It’s a neat option- the primary image is recorded to one ‘track’ called the 'A’ Track, while a second, user-defined (in terms of stops) track called the X-Track is almost simultaneously recorded. Audio is synced to the A-track. In post with REDCINE-X or a few others apps, you can blend them to your liking and see well beyond the dynamic range of any other system out there. I will post an example of it soon.
